On November 13, I purchased pork from the Sobeys downtown Fort McMurray. When I went to cook it on November 14, I noticed an unusual, bad smell, so I decided to return it. However, when I approached the store, the acting manager informed me that the meat manager was not on duty and that I would need to come back another time. Due to my busy work schedule, I returned on November 16.

While the customer service staff was friendly, I was extremely disappointed by the rude behavior of the General Manager. Despite having the receipt and returning the pork in its entirety, the General Manager refused to replace the product. In the end, I had to leave the spoiled meat with no resolution or compensation.

I am extremely frustrated that the General Manager, who should be helping resolve such issues, was the one who caused further inconvenience. This experience was very disappointing, and I expected much better service from Sobeys.

This used to be my favorite store, I have seen a huge change in quality and service the past couple months. The bakery used to be the best in town, bakers have changed! Where have the sweet Newfie ladies gone Bread is dense and small, my cheese loaf was completely hallow not edable as there was literally nothing but a hunk of cooked cheddar surrounding a huge hole, often out of fresh baked that day bread and buns which never happened before, I went specifically for fresh hot dog buns yesterday, none on shelf, but I saw some cooling on a rack so I asked a lady behind the counter if she would please bag me a dozen.. she grabbed the pan and showed me the buns and says “the girl did not warm up dough proper so they are small” they were WAY too small to even sell. I said “they don’t look soft and airy” she said no they have no air in them and continued to bag them…when she squished them they looked like the density of a bagel?! I said no thank you and let her know how I felt the bakery had changed lately. She did not respond. The service at the checkout has changed, negatively. I avoid to cashiers because they are so rough with my groceries (I have mentioned it directly to each girl numerous times-they don’t adjust) and just seem like I’m an inconvenience. *I have brought it to the attention of supervisors many times in the hopes for coaching and change- maybe a review will change something. The workers in the aisles don’t even acknowledge you- and I made a point to say hello to each one, I said excuse me to a few blocking the aisle—nothing! So goodbye sobeys until you start caring who you hire, because clearly you do not, your quality is not there and neither is the experience I used to love.
